Eyelash 101!

Hi, Honey!

In the last few years, I have been trying to "step my game up" when it comes to self-care in order to make myself feel more confident after having 3 kids. One of the things I have explored thoroughly is how to accomplish the perfect lashes! This is an easy way to make yourself feel naturally pretty (and it doesn't even require working out or eating healthy! YAY!). Here is what I have gathered from the products/mechanisms I have tried:



MAGNETIC EYELASHES:

I LOVED the thought of these types of lashes. Quick and easy snap-on eyelashes. However, these required a bit too much hyper-focused attention for my ADD self.

PROS:

  • Once you put them on gently and get the hang of it--They look great!

  • They stay on--the magnetic pull works!

  • They are easy to take off

  • The storage container they come with is convenient and cute!

CONS:

  • they take a while to get the hang of it (It took me many youtube videos)

  • It's one more thing to have in your drawer. I know this sounds silly, but we ALL know it adds up.

  • The price point is not cheap

  • They are not on all day every day like other mechanisms you can choose (serum, extensions, which we will get into in a second)

CONCLUSION:

I gave these to my younger niece who has more time than I do to sit in front of the mirror and practice putting them on. I would not purchase another pair of magnetic eyelashes, however, if you have the time and have mastered putting on false eyelashes (which I never could--these might be for you!)

EYELASH EXTENSIONS:

I would always stare in awe and envy over how perfect others looked with extensions. I knew I had to try eyelash extensions as soon as the market became saturated with this service and the price became more "reasonable". I had them on for about 6 months and here are my thoughts on them!

PROS:

  • They look AMAZING. I honestly felt like Beyonce circa Superbowl edition.

  • When you have them on they are on all day every day... You can be working out and you still are in Beyonce circa Superbowl edition eyelash category.

  • You can have them as dramatic or natural as you want them to be

  • You can ditch the mascara (YAY one less thing in the makeup bag or drawer!)

CONS:

  • High....Maintenace. They require maintenance every 1.5-3 weeks. The application can take anywhere from15-45 minutes. I honestly have a hard time getting to the dentist every 6 months so this was a major deal-breaker for me.

  • Expense- First application ranges from $100-$500 (mink eyelashes can be up to $500!) and the refill is $40-$150. This is equivalent to a small car payment--yikes!

  • I started to have a small line of a rash from the application glue. I have sensitive dry skin so this could have very well been as a result of that but it is ultimately what made me take them off.

  • You have to find a person that you love; Like any other profession, not everyone is good at their job/eyelash extensions regardless of what they may market. You will also be spending a lot of time with them if you keep it up--so make sure you like them and they don't smell bad (Kidding.. kind of).

  • There is a chance they will damage your natural lashes which take time to grow back-but they DO grow back. An ongoing myth is that they never grow back, however, they do!

CONCLUSION-

The rash was what made me ultimately want to take them off, however, the maintenance and fiscal part were what made me never put them back on. However, if you have the time and money to try it-I would say go for it!





EYELASH SERUM-:

This is ultimately what I personally felt was the easiest most practical approach to accomplishing great lashes! I have tried multiple serums and these are my honest reviews on each!


Rodan & Fields--


PROS-

  • It actually WORKS and FAST

  • Once you accomplish great lashes you do not need to put it on every day

  • Less time Consuming

  • It's MLM so you can support a friend!


CONS-

  • it is more expensive than others on the market -Its MLM (and we all know how that can sometimes go)

  • It is not all-natural ingredients


Essy Eyelash Serum-


PROS-

  • It WORKS!

  • It has a great price point-- a price point that you do not have to be guilty for "trying it out"

  • Conveniently accessible can be found on amazon

  • A million reviews (with pictures as seen below)

  • It works!

CONS-

  • The bottle does not contain a lot of liquid (only 2ml)

  • It works but takes a little bit more time than Rodan & Fields
